Increased Number of Locksmith Jobs For 2018
The need for individuals seeking a locksmith career is expected to remain strong. According to 10-year projections by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the demand for locksmiths in the near future appears to be very promising. The anticipated increase in the demand for professional locksmiths is partially due to new construction of private businesses, residences, commercial establishments, medical facilities and government agencies. The expected number of available jobs is estimated at 6,100 because of business development and economic growth. Also factored into these projections are replacement needs, as locksmiths age and retire from their locksmith careers, there is a continuing need to find qualified people to fill open positions.
The Sophisticated Roles Involving Technological Advancements
Increasing the demand even more is the fact that many traditional locksmith jobs are being replaced with more advanced locksmith positions. The requirements of locksmiths have steadily evolved into more sophisticated roles involving technological advancements in lock hardware. Locksmiths are no longer solely responsible for only repair, install and replacement keys. They must also be trained to use electronic security equipment for public facilities, residential homeowners and commercial businesses, especially those that are in need of improved safety and security systems.
